AMC, basic cable's premiere destination dedicated to movies and movie culture, has signed actor Jeff Goldblum to narrate the first nine episodes of its new original series, Movies That Shook the World, premiering Friday, September 9. Goldblum has appeared in such hit films as The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), Jurassic Park (1993) and Independence Day (1996).
Through in-depth interviews and revealing clips, this new documentary series will explore why these landmark movies were so explosive when they were released, the new paths they blazed, and why they remain so influential today. Some of the seminal films that will be spotlighted in the series include: The Graduate, Birth of a Nation, Do the Right Thing, Fatal Attraction, and The China Syndrome. Celebrities and industry veterans confirmed to participate in the series include: Spike Lee, Debbie Allen, Buck Henry, Peter Bart, Katherine Ross, Sherry Lansing, Anne Archer and Roger Ebert.
