New York, NY – June 4, 2019 – Killing Eve season two delivered the highest season-over-season growth of any returning TV drama on U.S. television in the last three years, growing 87 percent in total viewers and 78 percent in the key adults 25-54 demo from season one, in Nielsen live+7 ratings. Season two averaged 1.8 million viewers per episode, including 754,000 adults 25-54 and 562,000 adults 18-49.
The Peabody Award-winning series, which has been renewed for a third season premiering next year, has also been a force dominating conversation in social media. On the night of the season two premiere, Killing Eve was the #1 most-talked-about and most searched program on social platforms, and the finale was the #1 most social drama series, to go along with a number of other leading social metrics. The series generated more than 11 million social engagements across season two and was up double digits in activity over the course of the season.
“Killing Eve has captivated viewers in an astounding manner. Season-over-season growth like this would be remarkable at any time, it’s virtually unheard of in television today. There is so much love for Killing Eve from a growing base of passionate fans, it’s quite thrilling to witness,” said Sarah Barnett, president of the entertainment networks group for AMC Networks. “Thanks to Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Emerald Fennell, and our partners at Sid Gentle Films and the entire cast and crew for an utterly engaging second season. We all can’t wait for another wild, twisted ride with season three next year.”
The full season of Killing Eve premiered on BBC AMERICA and was simulcast on AMC. Starting with the season two premiere, new episodes were made available to AMC Premiere customers 48 hours before they appeared on linear television, generating significant usage over the course of the season. Around half of first-week viewing occurred during the pre-premiere window each week.
