New York, NY – March 10, 2003 – Mag Rack, Rainbow’s unique-video-on-demand (VOD)
service, announced today that it has partnered with On Command Corporation, a
leading provider of interactive in-room entertainment for the lodging industry,
to provide its original special interest video magazines to On Command’s digital
hotel base across the United States.
Starting in February 2004, visitors to more than 300,000 hotel rooms gained access
to Mag Rack’s five most popular video magazines.
Mag Rack’s initial program offering includes selections from “Classic
Cars,” “Motorcycle Freedom,” “Your Next Car,” “Yoga
Retreat” and “Personal Trainer.” Content is refreshed on a monthly
schedule.
“Our partnership with On Command provides Mag Rack the opportunity to
continue to roll out its unique brand of on-demand programming to a nationwide
audience,” said Mark Romano, vice president of alternate technologies at
Mag Rack. “Many hotel guests are accustomed to in-room video on demand
services, and the availability of Mag Rack’s original programs will show them
that VOD means much more than just movies.”
“The addition of Mag Rack’s original video magazines to the On Command
platform of movies, television features, video games and music services further
solidifies our position as the leading content provider for the interactive
television offering in the lodging industry,” said Tad Walden, Chief Marketing
Officer for On Command Corporation. “Mag Rack offers programs and instructional
videos that simply cannot be found anywhere else, and hotel visitors are certain
to find them both informative and entertaining.”
