NEW YORK, NY, OCTOBER 4, 2005 – AMC’s critically-acclaimed new series MOVIES 101 WITH PROFESSOR RICHARD BROWN features an interview with actor George Clooney on Friday, October 7 at 10:30 PM ET/PT. In this half-hour, Clooney speaks about the art and craft of directing film and television. His current directing project, “Good Night, And Good Luck” which he co-wrote, directed and co-stars, opens on Friday.

“To me, this is a very simple story -. It was about five episodes of television that took on McCarthy in 1953 and 1954 and literally changed America. Literally overnight because – everyone thought that McCarthy was the majority and Murrow came out on television, it was the first real test of television and he was the most trusted man in America.”
Clooney on early career aspirations:
“I thought I was going to be a professional baseball player. I only lacked…skill. It’s the only thing that stopped me from playing professionally. If you think about it, I had everything else – I had good hair – I had a really fantastic mitt…”

AMC, the TV network for movie lovers, is introducing the class to television audiences with its original nine-part series MOVIES 101 WITH PROFESSOR RICHARD BROWN. The movie-centric interview show premiered last week with guest Martin Scorsese. Upcoming guests include Jennifer Aniston (10/14), Daniel Day Lewis (10/21), Willem Dafoe (11/4), Whoopi Goldberg (11/18) and Kevin Kline (11/25).
George Clooney has gone from television actor to motion picture actor to producer, executive producer and director. Clooney is partnered with Steven Soderbergh in the film and television production company Section Eight. The company produced “Oceans Twelve,” “Oceans Eleven,” “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” “The Jacket,” “Full Frontal” and “Welcome To Collinwood.” Clooney was an executive producer of two-critically acclaimed Section Eight films, Warner Bros.’ “Insomnia” and Focus Features’ “Far From Heaven.” Clooney made his directorial debut in 2002 with “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” for which he won the Special Achievement in Film Award from the National Board of Review. He has starred in several television series, but is best known to TV audiences for his five years on the hit NBC drama “ER.” His portrayal of Dr. Douglas Ross earned him Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, People’s Choice and Emmy nominations.
