News 12 Long Island Honored With 17 New York Emmy Nominations

WOODBURY, NEW YORK, February 22, 2000 – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored News 12 Long Island with 17 Emmy nominations. News 12 was the fifth most nominated station in the New York area.


Nominations were announced at a press reception this morning at Della Femina Restaurant in Manhattan. Leading the nominees is photographer Michael DelGiudice who received a total of 9 nominations for News 12 Long Island. Other News 12 nominees include, anchors Doug Geed and Scott Feldman, reporters Bob Butler, Mark Lagerkvist and former reporter Greg Cergol, former photographer Thomas Aviles, photographer Sue Paul and editor Jena Mihalovich.

The nominations include the following categories; Outstanding Continuing News Story (A Courageous Journey), Outstanding Single News Feature (Goose on the Loose), Outstanding Entertainment Programming (Aboard the Bounty), Outstanding Environmental Programming (Earth Day Tips), Outstanding Political Programming (Take the Money and Run), Outstanding Sports Programming (The Pro), Outstanding On Camera Achievement – News (Bob Butler), Outstanding On Camera Achievement – Programming (Bob Butler), Outstanding Writer (Sunscreen), Outstanding Camera – Spot or Single News Feature (Goose on the Loose, The Sister’s of St. Dominic), Outstanding Camera – Entertainment (Aboard the Bounty), Outstanding Camera – Sports (The Pro), Outstanding Editing (Goose on the Loose), Outstanding Editing – Entertainment (Aboard the Bounty), Outstanding Editing – Sports (The Pro), Outstanding Audio/Sound (Aboard the Bounty).


The New York Emmy Awards are given for achievements originally broadcast or cablecast in New York or Northern New Jersey. Winners will be announced at the 43rd Annual New York Emmy Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 16th at New York’s Plaza Hotel.
