Rainbow Media’s Mag Rack Names Beth Sanford Vice President of Marketing

Marketing Veteran Brings More than 20 Years Experience
to Exciting New Video-On-Demand Service

Mag Rack Super-Serves Customers with Hyper-Specific, Special Interest
Programming – on Topics Ranging from Motorcycles to Bird Watching

(Western Cable Show, Anaheim, CA) – Beth Sanford has been named Vice President of Marketing at Mag Rack, Rainbow Media’s new, unique video-on-demand service, it was announced today by Matt Strauss, Mag Rack GM and EVP. Mag Rack delivers special interest programming that explores in-depth a wide range of topics that are unavailable elsewhere on television.

As Vice President of Marketing, Sanford reports to Matt Strauss, and is responsible for the Mag Rack’s branding of Mag Rack, trade and consumer marketing strategy, and execution. A key part of Sanford’s responsibilities will be supporting the efforts of cable operators to market Mag Rack as part of their VOD offerings.

Sanford joined Mag Rack in April of 2001 as the General Manager of BirdSight, a video-on-demand product about bird watching. Over the next several months, she helped shape the strategic direction of Mag Rack as it evolved into the video magazine rack. BirdSight is one of the original 10 video magazines in Mag Rack. The service launched in September.

Prior to joining Mag Rack, Sanford headed her own consulting practice, specializing in strategic marketing development for entertainment and Internet clients. Her consulting assignments included: serving as the architect of the marketing strategy for MSNBC’s launch; forging magazine partnerships for barnesandnoble.com; and developing marketing plans for cable networks such as Outdoor Life Network, Speedvision, and SportsChannel. She founded the company in 1995.

Previously, Sanford spent 16 years working in senior marketing positions for magazine publishing and cable programming companies, including Lifetime Television, Time Inc., and HBO.
