Blumhouse Productions Film Marks Logan Marshall-Green’s Directorial Debut
LOS ANGELES, October 16th– RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, has acquired North American rights to ADOPT A HIGHWAY. The Blumhouse Productions Film stars Four-Time Academy Award Nominee Ethan Hawke (Boyhood). It was written and directed by Logan Marshall-Green in his feature film directorial debut. RLJE Films will be releasing the film in theaters, VOD and Digital on Nov. 1, 2019.
“We were blown away by Ethan Hawke’s incredible performance in ADOPT A HIGHWAY,” said Mark Ward, chief Acquisitions officer for RLJE Films. “Logan Marshall-Green’s directorial debut shows he is a filmmaker to watch and we could not be more thrilled to be bringing this emotional and timely film to audiences.”
Led by a quietly masterful performance from Ethan Hawke, ADOPT A HIGHWAY follows an ex-con (Hawke) who must learn to navigate the modern world while coming to terms with his own life, all while caring for an abandoned baby he finds in a dumpster. Suffused with finely etched encounters and surprising twists, Adopt a Highway is at once a portrait of the often caring people who serve within an uncaring system and a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit. The film also stars Elaine Hendrix (“Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”), Diane Gaeta (Other People’s Children), Betty Gabriel (Get Out), Mo McRae (“Pitch”), Chris Sullivan (“This Is Us”), Nate Mooney (“Stan Against Evil”), Christopher Heyerdahl (“Hell On Wheels”), Loni Love (“The Real”) and Anne-Marie Johnson (“The InBetween”).
The film made its world premiere in the Narrative Spotlight section of this year’s SXSW Film Festival.
ADOPT A HIGHWAY was produced by Ethan Hawke, Jason Blum (Whiplash), Ryan Hawke (First Reformed), Greg Gilreath (Lucky), Adam Hendricks (Newly Single) and John Lang (The Wind). Edited by Claudia Castello (Creed, Fruitvale Station) and filmed by Pepe Avila del Pino (The Deuce), ADOPT A HIGHWAY features music and songs by Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell (Drive By Truckers, 400 Unit).
The deal was negotiated by Ward and Jess De Leo for RLJE Films and Nate Bolotin from XYZ Films and ICM Partners on behalf of Blumhouse.
