Romance Classics Presents ‘Naughty Or Nice,’ Christmas Day Movie Marathon

BETHPAGE, NEW YORK, October 30, 2000 – – This Christmas Day, Romance Classics presents a marathon of movies celebrating the classic Christmas question: Who’s been naughty and who’s been nice? On Monday, December 25 beginning at 10:00 AM (ET), just when you’re opening your presents, the networks kicks off with the Queen of Nice, Debbie Reynolds, and her six adorable orphans in MY SIX LOVES to offer family fun laced with a dash of romance for the whole family. By the time you’re getting into the eggnog, naughty Amy Irving, Ann Reinking and Dudley Moore offer more seductive shenanigans in MICKI & MAUDE.

After the “Naughty and Nice Movie Marathon” wraps at 9:00 PM (ET), Romance Classics Cinematherapists Kate and Jessie will arrive to prescribe a festive mini-series, EVERGREEN, to soothe your tired nerves.

The Christmas Day lineup includes:

MY SIX LOVES at 10:00 AM (ET) (1963) Debbie Reynolds, Cliff Robertson, David Janssen
Nice Rating: ****
Our reigning princess of peaches and cream, Debbie Reynolds portrays a theatre star who adopts six forlorn but adorable waifs and brings them home to live with her. Fortunately, she still has Cliff Robertson to lean on, here in his most hunky glory.

AND GOD CREATED WOMAN at 12:00 PM (ET) (1987) Rebecca De Mornay, Vincent Spano, Frank Langella
Naughty Rating: !!!
Vixen De Mornay is gorgeous as a convict who marries carpenter Spano to get sprung from prison, then toys with him and several others provocatively, including a suave politician played by Langella. For those who recall De Mornay in her memorable but naughty role in RISKY BUSINESS, this is a must-see before diving into the turkey and stuffing at Christmas lunch.

THAT TOUCH OF MINK at 1:45 PM (ET) (1962) Doris Day, Cary Grant, Gig Young, Audrey Meadows, Dick Sargent
Nice Rating: ***
Like a perfect snowball, fluffy but fun! An adorable young Doris Day (with her nice hair, nice clothes, nice smile) meets rogue-ish Cary Grant, and they fall into a thoroughly entertaining game of cat and mouse featuring engaging dialogue and a touch of romance.

WISH YOU WERE HERE at 3:30 PM (ET) (1987) Emily Lloyd, Tom Bell, Geoffrey Hutchings, Charlotte Barker
Naughty Rating: !!!
Spunky young actress Emily Lloyd (Cookie, In Country, River Runs Through It) made her debut in this movie and won the American Society of Film Critics best actress of the year. Lloyd portrays a provocative teenager living on the edge on the English coast, an innocent seductress with no sense of her impact on men, classic naughty but nice conflict.

ENCHANTED APRIL at 5:15 PM (ET) (1991) Miranda Richardson, Josie Lawrence, Joan Plowright, Polly Walker, Alfred Molina
Nice Rating: ****
Two oh-so-nice married women escape on a whim to Italy for a vacation, sharing a villa with two more liberated worldly unmarried women as their temporary housemates, and the result is pure magic. At heart, it’s the Thelma & Louise of its age, in period costume, and of course, with a happier ending.

MICKI & MAUDE at 7:00 PM (ET) (1984) Amy Irving, Ann Reinking, Dudley Moore
Naughty Rating: !!!!
Triple score on the naughty behavior in this mischievous farce where everyone’s naughty whether they know it or not! Both the wife and the girlfriend of the Dudley Moore character are pregnant, and all three head into the maelstrom with surprising joie de vivre (much like we all do with holidays)! Top-notch comedic performances from Irving and Reinking will bolster your spirits as the holiday festivities wind to a close.
