New York, NY – January 31, 2018: Shudder, the leading subscription video on demand service for thriller, suspense and horror, has named Craig Engler General Manager. In the newly-created position, Engler will manage the continued growth of the SHUDDER business by overseeing all activities, programming strategy, as well as the development and introduction of new content formats. Based in New York, Craig reports to Linda Pan, senior vice president of New Digital Business for AMC Networks.

Engler spent 15 years as a senior executive at Syfy and was part of the network’s leadership team which engineered the long-term strategy for the channel. After leaving the network he co-created and executive produced Syfy’s hit series Z Nation, which was just renewed for a fifth season. During his tenure at Syfy, Engler helped launch series such as Battlestar Galactica, Steven Spielberg Presents Taken, Dune, Defiance, Warehouse 13, Eureka and many more. He also served as SVP and GM of Syfy Digital, where he was responsible for both the long-term strategy and day-to-day operation of Syfy’s online portfolio of sites, including Syfy.com, ChillerTV.com, Defiance.com, and SyfyGames.com, among others. Engler also built and launched the Syfy Digital Studio, which developed original online series and digital spin-offs from popular on-air shows, including the Emmy® and Streamy award-winning Battlestar webisodes and Nuclear Family from Michael Eisner’s company Vuguru. Previously, Engler founded Science Fiction Weekly, a website dedicated to genre enthusiasts. Syfy acquired the business in 1999 and continues to run it under the name Syfy Wire.
