All three seasons of the hit UK drama to launch on premium SVOD service in the US
(September 12, 2018- New York, NY) – Shudder, the leading subscription video on demand service for thriller, suspense and horror, has acquired all three seasons of the bold, action packed crime thriller Stan Lee’s Lucky Man for US release, produced by Carnival Films.
Based on the original idea from legendary comic book writer Stan Lee, Lucky Man is a story about luck, fate, gambling, superstition and the consequences of our actions. It follows DI Harry Clayton – a brilliant, yet troubled cop from London’s notorious Murder Squad who is also a compulsive gambler in danger of losing the thing he values most: his family. As he’s approaching rock bottom, he meets the beautiful and enigmatic Eve at a casino who gives him a mysterious bracelet that grants him with the power to control luck. But it comes at a price.
Stan Lee said: “I’ve always been captivated by the subject of luck, and I thought it would be fascinating to explore a character who is bestowed an immense amount of fortune, but with a twist: the good comes with the bad. Turns out, I was right! I’m thrilled that U.S. audiences will now be lucky enough to see Stan Lee’s Lucky Man.”
Full of action, adventure and compelling characters, the show features some of the UK’s leading talent including the BAFTA award-winning James Nesbitt (The Hobbit Trilogy, The Missing, Cold Feet), Amara Karan (The Night Of, The Darjeeling Limited, Kidnap and Ransom), Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Retribution, Fortitude, Luther, Love Actually), and Stephen Hagan (Zoo, Risen).
James Nesbitt commented: “I’m really proud of the success of Lucky Man in the UK and it gives me great pleasure that our show is now being shown on an incredibly brilliant platform such as AMC’s Shudder.”
Originally produced for Sky One in the UK, the show remains one of the channel’s most successful dramas to date, generating over a million views each episode. Its success on Sky One has also been echoed globally with the show being sold to over 140 territories. Season one will be released on Shudder in November 2018, with season two being made available in December. Season three will launch in 2019.
“Stan Lee’s Lucky Man is an ingenious supernatural twist on the crime thriller,” said Craig Engler, General Manager of Shudder. “It’s exactly the kind of innovative series that Shudder members love and expect from us.”
Richard Fell, Executive Producer at Carnival Films, added: “We are thrilled that Lucky Man is going to be seen on Shudder. DI Clayton is another fantastic Stan Lee creation to add to all the others and we hope audiences in the US will love him as much as our international audiences.”
