NEW YORK, NY – 12 August 2014 – SundanceTV has promoted Rob Friedman to senior vice president, programming & scheduling. Previously vice president of programming & scheduling, Friedman will continue to report to Sarah Barnett, president and general manager for SundanceTV. In his new role, Friedman will oversee the strategic planning and scheduling of SundanceTV’s linear, TV Everywhere, and on-demand services. He will also coordinate program acquisitions with AMC Networks sister channel IFC. Friedman joined SundanceTV in 2012.
Barnett stated, “We are thrilled to recognize Rob’s achievements with this well-deserved promotion. He has impressively helped transition SundanceTV to an ad supported, multi-platform world, all the while elevating and amplifying our buzzy and distinctive original programming.”
Prior to SundanceTV, Friedman served as senior vice president of programming at MTV Networks/Spike TV, where he acquired content, helped launch over 40 original programs, and curated digital content for online streaming, mobile video, and VOD platforms. He has also held positions at Paramount Pictures, The Association of Independent Television Stations, Fox Television and Capitol Broadcasting Company. Rob began his career in radio as a DJ and newscaster in Troy, New York and Durham, North Carolina.
Friedman holds a BS in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and an MA in communication from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
