Monsterama Mini-Marathon Hosted By Elvira, Television Premiere of Indie Cult Hit Bubba Ho-Tep, Richard Gordon Film Festival, and Howlween Moonbeast Marathon Featuring 24 Hours of Werewolves Headline October Scare-Fest
JERICHO, N.Y., October 7, 2004 – Every day in October will be a scream on MONSTERS HD as the first and only all-monster movie channel in hi-definition launches a Halloween celebration with more than 190 horror films airing throughout the month and a series of special marathons and premieres. Highlighting the month-long celebration will be: a mini-marathon of the MONSTERS HD original series "Monsterama," hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark; a "Fiends and Films of Richard Gordon" Festival; the television debut of cult classic "Bubba Ho-Tep;" and a Halloween day and night "Howlween Moonbeast Marathon" spotlighting werewolf-themed favorites. MONSTERS HD is available exclusively on VOOM, the satellite service that provides the most comprehensive hi-definition programming.
MONSTERS HD's Halloween festivities kick into high gear on October 9th with the "Monsterama Mini-Marathon" hosted by Elvira, Mistress of The Dark. The "Monsterama" series spotlights the world of creature feature fandom – from toys and props to the men who create the movie monsters. The four hour block of back-to-back episodes will premiere at 7pm EST and will air again on October 21st at 6am and 8:45pm EST.
On October 13th, MONSTERS HD will feature 24 hours of horror and sci-fi from British producer Richard Gordon with films featuring brains, bloodthirsty aliens, a killer doll, and the king of horror himself – Borris Karloff. Titles for the "Fiends and Films of Richard Gordon Festival" include "Fiend Without A Face," "First Man Into Space," "Inseminoid," "Devil Doll," "Curse of The Voodoo," "Corridors of Blood," "Haunted Strangler" and "Horror Hospital."
On October 30, "Bubba Ho-Tep" the indie cult film by director Don Coscarelli will make its television debut in hi-definition on MONSTERS HD. The indie cult hit, based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by acclaimed author Joe R. Lansdale, tells the "true" story of what became of Elvis. The King, played by sci-fi legend Bruce Campbell (Ash from "The Evil Dead" series), is portrayed as an elderly resident in a Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death," and missed his chance to switch back.
Elvis teams up with Jack, played by Ossie Davis, a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two battle an evil soul-stealing mummy who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds.
The channel's Halloween bash culminates in grand fashion on October 31st, when MONSTERS HD will have fans barking at the moon with 24 hours of howling werewolf horror. Featured films include: "An American Werewolf in London," "Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed," "I Was A Teenage Werewolf," "Werewolves on Wheels," Stephen King's "Silver Bullet," "The Beast Must Die," "Howling 2: Your Sister Is A Werewolf," "Howling 3: The Marsupials," "Howling 5: The Rebirth," and "Howling 6: The Freaks."
