Following is additional information on VOOM’s two new original series:
Ultimate Tourist Scams,
(documentary series, 13 episodes, 1/2 hour, Equator HD)
Ultimate Tourist Scams offers viewers ways to get savvy with a guide to the wiliest scams that take place while you travel. Places explored range from Bali and Bolivia to Hong Kong and Mexico, where viewers hear first hand details about those who’ve seen the conniving tricksters in action. Each episode captures actual scams as they go down using covert filming and dramatic reconstruction. The show also introduces those tricked by international con men and ex con artists who explain the tricks of the trade and how to avoid being a victim of classic cons abroad.
Big Boutique in the City,
(lifestyle series, 13 episodes, 1/2 hour, Ultra HD)
Big Boutique in the City explores different cities around the world including Melbourne, Madrid, Shanghai, Rome, Los Angeles, Copenhagen and London, to examine the style in each. The series is made up of four different features from a specific destination, which provide an insider’s guide to a hip international destination from someone in the know, whether they be a resident journalist, model or celebrity stylist. The series features a mix of classic labels and cutting-edge designers, bringing a wide array of must-have items to viewers’ attention. The series goes beyond fashion and design into lifestyle and beautiful living.
Ultra HD is the first channel devoted to the worlds of fashion, beauty and style in high-definition. The channel has collaborated with Electric Sky in the past for the original series Fashion Avenue. The half-hour series showcases supermodel Jodie Kidd shopping, on a budget, for a big night out in cities around the world. Other original series on Ultra HD include Full Frontal Fashion, the best-known and most authoritative coverage of today’s fashion scene; Behind the Label, offering long-form interviews with top designers including Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani and Isaac Mizrahi; Cover Stories, a documentary series that goes behind-the-scenes at FQ Magazine; Reservations Required, a series that travels around the country to the newest, unique and most buzz-worthy restaurants to meet the chefs and sample the cuisines that are making their mark on the culinary world; and Ultra Eye, a program that finds the most compelling fashion, architecture, interior design, chic restaurants and hotels that define a city’s sense of style.
Equator HD is the first high-definition channel dedicated to exploring the world’s most intriguing people and places with intelligent travel, nature, and cultural programs. Original series include: Medicine Woman, following Dr. Danielle Behn Smith, a 27-year old Aboriginal woman and a rural family physician from British Columbia, Canada, as she travels across the world investigating the healing traditions of the indigenous people, rediscovering the knowledge of Mother Nature’s medicine chest; and The World Heritage, a half-hour series that explores the unique cultural, religious and natural historical locations from around the world designated as World Heritage sites by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
