Acorn TV today released a sneak peek clip from Season 3 of the fan-favorite crime drama, The Chelsea Detective, returning to the service on Monday, April 7 in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Additional episodes will drop weekly on Mondays. Adrian Scarborough (Killing Eve, The King’s Speech, 1917) and Vanessa Emme (Dublin Murders, Three Families) return in their leading roles as Detective Inspector Max Arnold and Detective Sergeant Layla Walsh respectively, with SAG® Award-winner Alex Kingston (A Discovery of WitchesDoctor WhoER) guest starring as US Ambassador Emily Morgan in the debut episode, “Deadlock.” The Christmas Special, which serves as the first episode of the 4 x 90 season, premiered in December 2024 and is available to stream on Acorn TV.

The upcoming season sees DI Max Arnold (Scarborough) and DS Layla Walsh (Emme) delve once more into the darker side of Chelsea that lurks beneath its glossy façade. Season 3 finds Max and Layla investigating the discovery of an ex-soldier’s body in an allotment, the brutal murder of an antiques dealer, and the mysterious case of a climate scientist found dead in a stolen car.

But, while Max remains adept at solving crimes, things are far from straightforward at home. After all their ups and downs, Max and his estranged wife, Astrid (Anamaria MarincaDeadline) are now trying couples therapy in a bid to revive their relationship and unpack where it all went wrong for them.

Sophie Stone (Shetland) returns as the brilliant, if occasionally daunting, Chief Forensics Officer Ashley Wilton, Lucy Phelps (Grace) as research and tech queen DC Jess Lombard, Peter Bankolé (Peaky Blinders) as officer DC Connor Pollock, along with Frances Barber (Whitstable Pearl) as Max’s Aunt Olivia who remains as full of joie de vivre as ever. With three new thrilling cases taking the team from intrepid mudlarks on the Thames foreshore to the formidable power of the US Embassy, the all-new season presents the team with their toughest challenges yet.

The Chelsea Detective, an Acorn TV Original Series, is created and executive produced by Emmy® Award-winning Peter Fincham (The Lost Prince, Smack the Pony, I’m Alan Partridge) and executive produced by Ella Kelly (Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders). The three, feature-length episodes are written by Glen Laker (Vera, Prime Suspect), Debbie Oates and Ian Kershaw (Cold Feet, Medici) and Nicola Wilson (Call the Midwife, Good Karma Hospital). The series is produced by Lauriel Martin (DodgerSmothered) and the directors are Jennie Darnell (Payback, Trigger Point) and Richard Signy (Death in Paradise, Silent Witness).

The Chelsea Detective is produced by Acorn TV’s Acorn Media Enterprises, Germany’s ZDF and the BBC Studios invested indie Expectation. Acorn TV, AMC Networks’ acclaimed and fast-growing streaming service devoted to British and international mystery and dramas, serves as the exclusive home for the series in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. BBC Studios distributes the series internationally.
