Regional All-Sports Network Issues Call for Future Sports Broadcasters
BURLINGTON, MA– FSN New England turns 25 this season, and just like Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics, we are always looking for new talent. To inspire the next generation of sports reporters, FSN New England is renewing its FanCaster program and will select 41 students to participate in its Boston Celtics telecasts.
Beginning with the home opener against the New York Knicks on November 2, and continuing through all 41 home games, FSN New England will select one student to tape an on-camera introduction to the Celtics "Heroes Among Us". During each home game, the Celtics honor a community hero on the parquet floor, and FSN New England will use the taped FanCaster intro during its Celtics post game show to educate TV viewers about the Celtics Hero.
"Without a doubt, FSN FanCaster is a worthwhile program for any student seeking a career in the media," said Christopher Hazel, Waltham High School television specialist. "I have had a number of students submit tapes and they gained amazing experience before they entered college."
FSN New England's FanCaster is open to students, age 13-18, who are interested in a career in the media. To enter, each student must send an entry form and a videotape of him or herself reading an audition script to FSN. FanCasters will be selected based on their TV presence and the quality of the video.
"FanCaster is a truly amazing program and each year we receive more and more entries," said Nancy Larkin, FSN New England vice president of marketing and development. "For a student seeking a career in the media, the FanCaster experience is invaluable."
Students and media teachers can find a FanCaster tool kit, including the entry form, the script and rules at www.FSNNewEngland.com . The VHS ONLY tape must be labeled with the student's name, age, school, home phone number and address, and sent along with the entry form to:
