Renowned Missing-Persons Expert Troy Dunn Helps Those Desperate to Reunite With Someone from Their Past
Ten-Episode Unscripted Original Series Set to Premiere Fall 2008
New York, NY – April 7, 2008 – WE tv announced today it will expand its original programming slate with a new series The Locator. The series will feature Troy Dunn, aka “The Locator,” who has spent the past 15 years searching for and successfully locating thousands of missing people and solving some of the world?s toughest missing persons cases. Slated to premiere on WE tv in September 2008, the series will take viewers through heart-warming, and sometimes wrenching, tales of regret and loss as each episode follows Troy piecing together the puzzles of missing-person mysteries.
“The Locator is an exciting, powerful new series that brings people together through emotionally charged journeys and tireless efforts to reunite families and loved ones all over the world,” said Kim Martin, executive vice president and general manager for WE tv. “We look forward to working with Troy and his team to put our viewers in touch with these emotionally intense stories of hope, triumph and healing.”
In each of the series? 10 half-hour episodes, Troy will select one particularly dire or time-sensitive “angel” case and set out on a quest to locate the missing person. All locating services are provided free of charge. Navigating around roadblocks and dead-ends, Troy and his team of private investigators, detectives, law enforcement officials, and psychics use interviews, photos, and video clips as they eventually begin to uncover clues that lead them in the right direction. Cases featured in the series will include stories of adoption, abducted children, dire medical situations involving terminal illnesses and lost medical information, abandonment and more.
“With nine out of ten people looking for someone from their past, it?s as if half of the world is looking for the other half,” said Troy Dunn, host of The Locator, founder of www.troythelocator.com and author of The Locator, a step-by-step guide to finding lost family, friends and loved ones. “I love what I do and I know this series will inspire and touch WE tv viewers as we try to bring people together.”
To help generate excitement and viewer involvement in the upcoming series, www.WEtv.com will be accepting viewers? own missing-person stories for a chance to have Troy and his team take on their case and be featured in an episode of The Locator. Viewers can begin submitting their entries later this summer.
Spanning a 15-year career, Troy Dunn has located thousands of missing persons, reuniting them with loved ones in all fifty states and throughout several countries, and solving some of the toughest missing-person mysteries. He has appeared on more than 550 television programs, including “Dr. Phil,” “Good Morning America,” “The View,” “60 Minutes” and “Unsolved Mysteries.” Troy lives in Ft. Myers, Florida with his wife and seven children.
The series will be shot on location nationally and internationally, wherever each case takes Troy and his team. The series is being produced by Asylum Entertainment.
