Documentary Special Women at War: Coming Home Scheduled to Premiere in November
New York, NY, July 11, 2006 – On the heels of a record breaking quarter, WE tv announced today the addition of two new original programs to its 2006 programming slate. The original series Unwrapping Macy’s, a behind-the-scenes look at the nation’s biggest department store – Macy’s Herald Square in NYC, is scheduled to premiere on September 30, 2006. Also premiering in Q4 is the original special Women at War: Coming Home, a documentary that follows four female soldiers who served in Iraq, and is scheduled to premiere in November 2006.

Original programming has garnered record ratings success for WE tv. June 2006 ranked as the best June in the history of the network for HH ratings and HH delivery. To date in 05/06, WE tv has +278% more original telecasts during Prime M-Su 8p-11p than in the same time period during the 04/05 season. In addition, the 05/06 season is pacing to be the best in WE tv’s history for Prime M-Su 8p-11p delivery of HH, W18-34, W18-49, W25-49 and W25-54.
Unwrapping Macy’s is a half-hour series that follows real-life employees at the biggest department store in the nation, Macy’s Herald Square in New York City, to see what goes on behind the scenes. From store publicists and security guards, to window dressers and balloon handlers it takes hundreds of dedicated individuals to make Macy’s shine. Over eight episodes join WE tv and look beyond the windows, the parade, the star studded events and see what it really takes to make the doors to America’s department store open every day.
Women at War: Coming Home is a one-hour documentary special that follows four female combat soldiers who served in Iraq during 2006. From daily patrols and briefings, to quiet time with letters from home and laughs with friends in their unit, the special follows these women throughout their time in Iraq and return to the US and their families. Once reunited with their families, cameras capture all the emotions, stories and explanations of how their war experience has changed their lives.
