New York, NY – July 12, 2021 – Driven by the success of the reality franchise “Love After Lockup” and the hit series “Mama June: From Not to Hot,” WE tv has been the #1 cable network on Friday nights in prime time among all women 18-49 for the first six months of 2021 in Nielsen Live+3 ratings. This follows the network’s longstanding record of leadership on Thursday night, #1 with Black women for nearly a decade. WE tv has also been the #1 cable network with Black women on Friday nights since 2019.
“For nearly a decade, WE tv has been the top network with Black women on Thursday nights, a true destination for viewers powered by an array of popular and iconic programming,” said Brett Dismuke, General Manager of WE tv and the ALLBLK streaming service. “It’s so gratifying to build on that incredible record of success on the strength of some new original programming franchises that are attracting fans and delivering a second night at the top of the ratings charts for WE tv.”
WE tv has been the #1 cable network on Thursday nights among Black women 18-49 and 25-54 since 2012, on the strength of such long-time original franchises as “Braxton Family Values,” “Growing Up Hip Hop,” “Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition,” “Waka and Tammy: What the Flocka,” and many more. Since 2019, WE tv has been the #1 cable network among Black women for both nights of originals.
