NEW YORK, NY APRIL 7, 2009 – WE tv announced today the launch of a new public affairs campaign, WE Volunteer, to motivate women to become more involved in their communities by connecting them with local causes they are passionate about, and encouraging them to volunteer their time. Kicking off its three-year campaign on April 1, 2009, WE tv is partnering with VolunteerMatch, the web’s largest and most popular volunteer network. Interested participants can log onto www.WEVolunteer.tv to search for and sign up for a volunteer opportunity at an organization of their choice. WE Volunteer is the latest campaign of WE Empowers Women, the network’s four-year-old public affairs initiative dedicated to creating projects and programs that foster and celebrate issues that impact the lives of women in the home and workplace.

"We’re excited to use WE Volunteer to help women support causes that are near and dear to them, engage their family and friends, and make a difference in their community," said Kim Martin, WE tv President and GM. "WE Volunteer gives women the opportunity to contribute in a creative way, by encouraging them to donate their time, not their money. We’re also proud to get behind an effort that mirrors one of the new President’s top initiatives – community service."

Powered by VolunteerMatch, the campaign’s website, www.WEVolunteer.tv, gives participants the ability to track the amount of hours volunteered, connect with others who are donating their time to good works and inspire more people to do the same.

A leader in the field of service and volunteering, VolunteerMatch partners with corporations and brands to engage consumers and employees in volunteering at its network of more than 63,000 participating nonprofit organizations.

"We’re proud to support WE tv in its commitment to helping women discover the power of making a difference," said Greg Baldwin, VolunteerMatch’s president.

As part of today’s announcement, WE tv will support the campaign internally by encouraging all of its employees go out and volunteer. Over the duration of the campaign WE tv will identify days throughout the year as "WE Volunteer Days" and employees will have the opportunity to volunteer on one of those days at a pre-selected cause or they can register on the campaign website to volunteer at an organization of their choice. WE tv will also support the initiative by producing PSA’s that galvanize viewers to volunteer in their communities.

As part of today’s ongoing announcement, WE Empowers Women has gathered notables from the cable industry to continue to serve on its Advisory Council. Members include: Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, President and CEO, WICT; Ellen East, EVP and COO, Time Warner Cable; Patricia Armstrong, SVP, Investor Relations, Cablevision; Bonnie Hathaway, VP Public Affairs, Time Warner Cable; Necole Merritt, VP, Public Affairs, Cox Communications, and Catherine Avgiris, SVP and General Manager, Voice Services, Comcast Cable.
