National Sweepstakes to Award $20,000 Spa Vacation
JERICHO, NY, January 22, 2003 – Take the kids to school, the clothes to the dry cleaners, the pet to the vet … and that's before the workday begins. Intensive demands and over-taxed schedules plague today's women, the country's chief caregivers. The resulting stress and time deficit is taking its toll on women's overall health and well-being. WE: WOMEN'S ENTERTAINMENT has partnered with Lluminari, a network of leading health professionals, to declare March 28 national "Me Time Day" in an effort to encourage women to look after themselves.
Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon and Multi-Platinum recording artist Vanessa Williams have signed on as spokespeople and will appear in several Public Service Announcements airing throughout March on WE. WE also unveiled the "Me Time" National Sweepstakes which will award one lucky winner the ultimate Spa Vacation valued at $20,000. Beginning March 1, visitors to www.we.tv can enter the national sweepstakes, get inventive ideas on how to spend their "Me Time" and, most importantly, receive valuable information on women's health. Banners and links to women's health organizations and the leading related websites will be provided. Visitors will also be encouraged to pledge "Me Time Minutes" for March 28. WE will post the total national pledge counting down to the day.
"Statistically, women often put others first at the expense of themselves. 'Me Time Day' is an initiative to raise national awareness of this issue and one that will hopefully encourage women to take time out – be a minute, an hour or the whole day – to restore their sense of well-being," said Martin von Ruden, executive vice president and general manager, WE. "Hopefully, putting ourselves at the top of the 'to-do' list will become habit-forming."
WE has teamed with LLuminari, the leading health education company for women comprised of world-renowned physicians and experts. "As LLuminari is committed to providing women with trusted guidance on health from a body, mind and spirit perspective, we're excited to be part of this vital, grassroots initiative," commented Elizabeth Browning, Founder and CEO of LLuminari. "Medically, women can substantially improve their health and well-being by giving themselves that extra care."
