Jericho, NY, March 21, 2005 – WE: Women's Entertainment General Manager Kim Martin today named Janice Moore as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Moore will oversee all aspects of marketing for WE: Women's Entertainment including the strategic direction of the WE brand and its ratings and awareness goals. Ms. Moore will report to Kim Martin, General Manager of WE: Women's Entertainment. The appointment provides the network with an additional senior staff member, a senior branding strategist, and an investment in building a larger marketing infrastructure.
With its strong demographics and aggressive subscriber growth, Moore will direct WE's consumer and ad sales marketing campaigns and oversee the network's brand identity. She will also supervise the development of integrated promotional packages to enhance the network's key initiatives. Prior to this position, Moore served Rainbow Media's IFC Network as Vice President of Corporate Marketing.
"Janice is one of the most accomplished, savvy, and well respected marketers in cable," stated Martin. "She will be a wonderful addition to WE's senior management team. Her experience in building brands, creating unique and popular initiatives and forging valuable partnerships will be a huge asset as WE looks to expand its original programming slate. Most of all, this new position represents an important strategic investment we are making to build a stronger marketing infrastructure that will grow our valuable viewing demographic."
Today's announcement comes in conjunction with Ms. Moore's first comprehensive consumer and trade marketing initiative, developed to support the season two launch of the network's hit series "McLeod's Daughters," which premieres on Saturday, March 19 at 10 pm ET.
The marketing campaign uses fresh consumer advertising to highlight the show's dramatic, and sometimes scandalous, storylines to attract viewers. The campaign includes: print ads in US Weekly, People, TV Guide, Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly; specially produced on-air spots running on broadcast shows, including Oprah and Dr. Phil, in NY, LA and Chicago; national spot cable; radio ads in the top 15 markets; online banners at Yahoo!, E!, Soap Central and Soap City, among other sites; and episodic information and quizzes at WE's website, www.we.tv.
To complement the advertising, WE partnered with People magazine on an exclusive national sweepstakes, offering viewers the chance to win a trip for two to Australia. The winner will receive two roundtrip airfare tickets; five nights in Sydney; 3 nights in Adelaide (near the set of "McLeod's Daughters"); a full day on the set with the cast and crew of "McLeod's Daughters"; one night in Australia's wine country, Barossa Valley, and a winery tour. Viewers can enter to win at www.people.com/wetv between March 11 and May 1. The winner will be chosen through a random drawing.
