Linda Ellerbee has done a tremendous job in keeping the series true to its original intent – we are proud to have "When I Was A Girl" on our air."

WHEN I WAS A GIRL offers viewers a rare glimpse into the early years of famous females. Focusing on previously untold stories from their youth, the program celebrates the similarities that all women share in their memories, dreams and fears while evolving from girls into women. From the time when parents seemed all-knowing, to the awkward era of adolescence, each of these women discloses intimate memories as they speak candidly from their heart – recalling their connection to their favorite 'blankie,' their first kiss, and the names of all their stuffed animals and imaginary friends. While the stories are personal, when told collectively, these recollections reveal the shared experience of all girls.
"Memory is the library we all carry with us," says Linda Ellerbee. "WHEN I WAS A GIRL is a phrase that conjures up emotions both good and bad-poignant and joyful. This series catapults the women who are featured back to an era, a milestone, or a defining moment, when they learned something about themselves. And for the viewers, it's like being invited to a wonderful dinner party with all of your best girlfriends. It demonstrates that no matter what road a woman chooses, how much money she makes, or what she looks like – she shares something with all other women – they were all once girls."
